A Home Going Celebration will be held for Mr. Michael Wayne Charles, 58 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, Jeanerette, LA with Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander, officiating. He will await the resurrection at Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery, Jeanerette, LA.

A gathering of family and friends will begin on Friday April, 26, 2013 at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and resume on Saturday at the church 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

A resident of Jeanerette, LA Mr. Charles passed at 1:00 a.m. on April 17, 2013 at Iberia Medical Center. He was a 1972 graduate of Jeanerette Senior High School; an employee of North American Salt Mine for 32 l/2 years; a veteran of the United States Army.

He leaves to cherish his memory and in God’s care his wife, Diannia Lee Moore Charles; seven children, Sirbatian Derae (LaWanya) Charles, Sr. of Franklin, LA, LaMarco Raynell (LaCreshia) Moore of Jeanerette, LA, Darnesheia LaFaye Moore of Jeanerette, LA, Aquino K. (Sparkles) Charles, Sr., of Atlanta, GA, Marquin Dwayne, Shaquille Robert and Destiny Desire Charles all of Jeanerette, LA; one devoted sister, Jacquelyn S. (Maclyn) Bastian of New Iberia, LA; four adopted siblings, Sheila (Larry) Fontenette of Port Arthur, TX, Wayne (Roberta) Charles, Vanessa (Ellis) Castillo and Darnell Charles of Jeanerette, LA; one sister-in-law, Willa Moore of Delcambre, LA; father-in-law, James Colar of Jeanerette, LA; ten aunts, Violet Moncrieff, Victoria Charles, Mary C. Castle, Louella R Lewis, Theresa Eugene, Jerry Mae Robertson, Joyce Mae Allen, Clara B. Jackson and Lena (Virgil) Williams all of Jeanerette, LA and Alberta (Leonard) Joseph of New Iberia, LA; six uncles, Alton Charles of Houston, TX, Morris Charles of Verdunville, LA, Allen Charles of New Iberia, LA, Raleigh Robinson and Matthew Robertson of Jeanerette, LA and Emmich Robertson, Jr., of Minneapolis, MN; fourteen grandchildren, Sirbatian Charles, Jr., Brianna LeBlanc, Brandon Brown, Xavieon Charles, LaVacia Charles, Dy’Vontra Key, Daniel Key, Jr., Ki’Lya Key, Bre’Land Lenford, Bre’Asia Hines, Zackaryeah Hines, Mar’Coreyian Moore, Aquino Charles, Jr., and Za’Vain Charles.

He now joins in glory with his parents, Matilda Charles Crofton and Will Harding; grandparents, Albert and Leotha Charles; sister-in-law, Lula Mae Moore and one daughter.

Active pallbearers will be, Nolen Jackson, Jr., Derrion Moore, Carl Rener, Jr., Tyrone Robertson, Theus J. Robinson, Sr., Kevin Sabine and Lyna Turner.
